Where to start? The sander project kept growing in scope. Now it is a complete sanding system designed from the ground up to be modular. The core tool is the sander frame which can be used in vertical position. In addition to the vertical position the sander can be rotated 90 degrees to be used in a horizontal position. Not only vertical or horizontal but it can be set and locked in place to be used in any position between vertical and horizontal.

The tool holder and work rest holder feature non-marring clamping system. They adjust very quickly and when tightened will not slip. Also they clamps self center the bars that they are clamped onto. This means that you will no longer be fighting slop in your tubing.

The tensioning system permits very fast belt changes without moving the platen, contact wheel or disturbing your setup.

The motor! I have decided to experiment a little with the motor. There are of course the known options of the VFD’s and motors that are popular. I was prepared to go that route when another friend brought another possible option to me. It was intriguing enough that I decided to investigate it further. If it does not work out then the original option is always still on the table. For the moment I am not sharing more details on the experimental motor.
