In this video I demonstrate that the VHB will hold even if the platen is broken. I demonstrate this by totally smashing the platen with a hammer and attempt to push loose the small shattered pieces. Then I demonstrate how to remove a platen using a heat gun to soften the VHB tape so that it can be easily peeled off.
Benefits of my ceramic glass platen liner vs others that are available. My platen is thicker at .193″, which is better able to resist impact cracks if the belt grabs the work piece out of your hand and bangs it against the platen, vs most competitors which are .187″ thick or less. My platen ships with VHB tape pre-installed so it is ready for immediate installation and use on your machine. Simply clean the mounting surface with Alcohol, Peel tape masking and install. It is then ready to use. No waiting, no shelf modification required. The tape bond continues to increase in bonding strength for 3 days after installation when it reaches 100% strength. My platen can be very easily removed with a heat gun or hair dryer and small prying tool such as screw driver.
Note: Even though the ceramic platen run cooler and wear longer than steel they are not indestructable. Very hard fast grinding of profile edges can wear a slight groove in the plate.
